Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a Special Education Assistant to support students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms. You will assist in instruction, implement IEP objectives, monitor behavior, and help with data collection and documentation.

High school diploma required; CPS/education assessment may be used. Experience with diverse student populations and collaboration with teachers is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of instructional procedures and safety practices.
• Ability to support students with diverse needs.
• Experience with IEP objectives and behavior support plans.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising special education students in classroom or self-contained settings.
• Implement IEP objectives and adapt activities under teacher direction.
• Monitor student behavior and safety during non-classroom time.
• Attend IEP meetings and communicate progress to staff and families.
• Maintain organization of materials and student records.
