Job summary

Miami Unified School District is seeking a Special Needs Paraprofessional to assist teachers in preparing materials, supervising students, and providing individualized instruction per the IEP. The role includes implementing lesson plans, maintaining student records, and supporting therapy as needed.

The position requires passing fingerprint and background checks and adherence to safety protocols. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, with AA degree or 60 credit hours or ParaPro

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass fingerprint and background clearance.
• High school diploma or GED and/or 60 credit hours or ParaPro Test.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of a student’s IEP.
• Implement daily lesson plans including academic, social, and functional activities per IEP.
• Organize/prepare instructional material for students.
• Provide direct student instruction (individual or group) from lesson plans.
• Maintain records and files for assigned student(s).
• Input data into computer systems.
• Provide evaluation of IEP goal attainment.
• Assist classroom teacher as time and conditions permit.
• Design and enforce behavior management plans.
• Provide physical assistance to assigned students during school hours and field trips.
• Provide life skills assistance as described in the IEP.
