Job summary

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is seeking a Substitute Teacher for the Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled. You will design and implement IEPs and participate in IEP team meetings to support student learning.

Key duties include analyzing learning styles, coordinating behavioral supports, and maintaining a safe, confidential classroom environment while adhering to program policies. Certification requirements apply as noted.

Qualifications

• Eligible to be issued and receive a Missouri Substitute Teacher’s Certificate with 60 hours of college credit.
• Missouri Teaching Certificate required or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement IEPs for students with disabilities.
• Analyze learning styles and adapt teaching strategies.
• Select age-appropriate, functional activities and materials.
• Conduct IEP team and special education meetings.
• Coordinate behavioral support/intervention plans.
• Coordinate communication systems for students.
• Develop an efficient daily schedule for IEPs.
• Follow students' health care procedures as specified.
• Maintain a safe classroom environment.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Follow MSSD policies and guidelines.
• Assist with daily self-care tasks for students as needed.
