Job summary

TrulyHired is seeking a Special Education Resource Teacher (LD and/or Multi-Cat Certified) for Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy and Carvers Bay Early College and Career High in Georgetown, SC.

The role requires South Carolina teacher certification, a degree in a relevant field, and prior experience. The teacher will instruct, plan, assess, and collaborate with staff to develop and implement Individual Education Plans for students with diverse needs.

Qualifications

• SC Teacher Certification in appropriate area.
• Degree(s) required and area of major study from an accredited college/university.
• Prior job experience preferred.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the student.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Develops lesson plans and organizes daily classes so that demonstration, instruction, and practice can be developed within the allotted time.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and communicates clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
• Uses a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and capabilities of the students involved in the learning activities.
• Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
• Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law and district policy.
• Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
• Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
• Confers frequently with parents and professionals regarding educational, social, and personal problems of such students.
• Assists in screening, evaluating, and recommending placement of students.
• Generates an Individual Education Plan at the end of each school year for the coming school year.
• Attends IEP meetings as deemed necessary and prepares behavioral intervention plans for specified students.
