Job summary

TrulyHired is seeking a Special Education Resource Teacher (LD and/or Multi-Cat Certified) for the district. The role involves meeting classes as scheduled and creating a learning-conducive environment tailored to students’ needs, while planning instruction and developing IEPs as appropriate.

Responsibilities include maintaining classroom order, using diverse instructional methods, assessing progress, and collaborating with parents, counselors, and staff to support educational and personal goals

Qualifications

• South Carolina Teacher Certification in appropriate area.
• Degree(s) required and area of major study from an accredited college/university.
• Prior job experience preferred.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Responsibilities

• Msths and instructs assigned classes as scheduled.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning for students' maturity and interests.
• Develops rules of classroom behavior and maintains order fairly.
• Plans study programs to meet individual student needs and abilities.
• Develops lesson plans and organizes daily classes for demonstrations and practice.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives for lessons and projects.
• Uses varied instructional techniques and media to meet student needs.
• Assesses student progress and provides reports as required.
• Diagnoses learning abilities and disabilities; seeks district specialist assistance as needed.
• Maintains accurate records per laws and district policies.
• Instructs pupils on equipment use and safety; requests repairs when needed.
• Serves as a role model; maintains professional competence through in-service activities.
• Communicates with parents and counselors on pupil progress.
• Supervises pupils in out-of-class activities; participates in curriculum development.
• Works with teachers and staff to address educational, social, and personal issues.
• Assists in screening, evaluating and recommending student placements.
• Counsels students on educational and occupational goals; develops IEPs.
