Job summary

Centennial Elementary in Mount Vernon, WA is seeking a Paraeducator for the Special Education Resource Room. This 180-day position provides skilled and confidential classroom support and partners with the lead teacher to support student success.

The role requires an AA degree or higher (or two years of college), strong communication skills, and the ability to work with students with special needs. Bilingual/bicultural candidates are preferred, with familiarity in Google apps and IEP data systems.

Qualifications

• AA degree or higher, or two years of college (72 quarter credits).
• Ability to meet state performance standards in reading, math and writing (para-educator assessment).
• Experience with high school age children; special needs experience preferred.
• Bilingual/bicultural preferred.
• Knowledge of Google applications; willingness to learn Skyward and other student data/IEP systems.
• Good communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Plan and anticipate transition IEPs monthly.
• Prepare assessments for transition IEPs.
• Conduct transition IEP interviews.
• Work with Transition Specialist and IEP manager to determine assessments.
• Distribute transition information to IEP manager.
• Assist with IEP documentation and scheduling.
