Job summary

LUBBOCK INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT seeks a Special Education Teacher for a middle school program. The role involves providing services in self-contained/ inclusion settings, developing IEPs, and coordinating ARD processes with families and staff to support student growth.

The position requires a Texas teaching certificate with SPED endorsements, a bachelor’s degree, and instructional planning skills. The contract aligns with district schedules and expectations for dedicated special education

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree and valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements.
Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of ARD Committee process and IEP goal setting/implementation, understanding special needs.
Experience: At least one-year student teaching or approved internship.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEPs through the ARD process for each student.
Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs and show written evidence of preparation.
Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and materials reflecting students’ learning styles and needs.
Work with regular-education teachers to modify curricula and assist students in regular classes.
Present subject matter according to IEP guidelines and use various instructional techniques.
