Job summary

LUBBOCK INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT seeks a Special Education Teacher to provide learning activities and experiences for students with special needs. You will develop or modify curricula, prepare lessons, and work in self-contained, team, or itinerant settings as assigned.

Responsibilities include collaborating with families, ARD participation, and implementing individualized programs aligned with IEP goals. Strong knowledge of ARD processes and curriculum planning is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements
• One year student teaching or approved internship

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEP through the ARD process for each student assigned.
• Implement an instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for assigned students and show written evidence of preparation as required.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment reflecting the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
• Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula and assist special education students in regular classes with assignments.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings on a regular basis.
