Job summary

Robbinsdale Area Schools seeks a Special Education Class 3A Education Assistant at Neill Elementary in New Hope, MN. This seven-hour/day position includes 6.5 hours of paid work time and 30 minutes of unpaid lunch, at $24.75 per hour with benefits.

Responsibilities include supervising and instructing students with disabilities, supporting teachers, assisting in small groups, and crisis support. Applicants should have at least two years of college credits and a cooperative, confidential approach.

Qualifications

• At least two years of college credits (usually 60 credits in MN), an associate's or higher degree, or a passing score on the ParaPro or Paraeducator Assessment.
• Experience working with students who have cognitive or physical disabilities and behavior problems preferred.
• Word processing, filing and computer familiarity.
• Patient, calm and understanding manner when working with students.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing supervision and instruction to students with disabilities.
• Provides clerical and organizational support to special education teachers as needed.
• Works with individuals and/or small groups when activities are presented by teachers.
• Provides support for students in crisis.
• Willingness to lift, carry and physically manage as necessary.
