Job summary

Duluth Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Program Paraprofessional to support instructional staff and specialists at Lowell Elementary School. The role includes assisting with educational, physical, safety, and life skills development for students with special needs. The position is 31.25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 2:15 pm.

Starting wage is $20.86-$23.48 per hour plus benefits. Location is Lowell Elementary School in Duluth, MN. Closing date is 11/02/2026.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits or passing ParaPro score.
• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with children and adults.
• Effective communication with students, parents, staff and community.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and observe and record accurately.
• Ability to understand and correct student assignments.
• Ability to meet federal/state guidelines and complete in-service courses.
• Experience as a teacher's assistant in a teaching environment or related childcare work.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructional staff and specialists in educational and life skills development for special needs students.
• Support safety and daily routines to create a conducive learning environment.
