Job summary

Pennwood Cyber Charter School is seeking a mission‑driven Coordinator of Special Education to lead compliance, instructional quality, and delivery of special education services. You will translate federal and state requirements into practical procedures, coach staff, and ensure timelines and equitable access for students.

Reporting to the Director of Special Education, you will supervise teachers and related staff, coordinate evaluations, manage assistive technology, and drive continuous program

Qualifications

• Active Pennsylvania Special Education certification.
• Active Pennsylvania Supervisor of Special Education or K-12 Principal certification.
• At least five years of special education teaching experience.
• At least three years of experience in a virtual charter school environment.
• Knowledge of IDEA, Chapter 711, and Section 504.
• Experience supervising staff and serving as the Local Education Agency representative in IEP meetings.
• Experience conducting IEP and evaluation‑document reviews.
• Strong organizational, communication, coaching, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills.
• Ability to travel statewide for meetings, staff support, state testing, and school events.

Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day coaching, mentorship, performance feedback, and operational guidance to special education staff.
• Supervise assigned staff and support consistent implementation of special education expectations.
• Provide clear, direct, and constructive feedback while maintaining positive professional relationships.
• Design and deliver targeted professional learning and lead program‑improvement initiatives.
• Review IEPs and related records to assess student needs and placements.
• Ensure adherence to timelines and documentation standards.
• Serve as LEA representative in IEP meetings and sign official documents.
• Coordinate assessments and evaluation processes while protecting 60‑day timelines.
• Audit service logs and resolve discrepancies to support compliance.
• Maintain assistive‑technology inventory and support accommodations.
