Job summary

Fallbrook Union Elementary School District’s Mike Choate Center seeks a Special Education Program Assistant II for full-time placement. The role supports students with a patient, respectful approach and collaborates with instructional staff to develop and present materials.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus an AA degree/48 college units or passing the district proficiency test; CPI certification is maintained. CPR/First Aid certification is advantageous.

Job Description

Fallbrook Union Elementary School District is a Pre K-8 district. The Mike Choate Center program includes four CA State Preschool classrooms and two special education preschool classrooms.

The successful candidate must be able to accomplish the following responsibilities in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner:

• Assist students with a patient and friendly attitude and provide general support in a non-judgemental, non-reactive manner.
• Assists instructional personnel with the development and presentation of a variety of instructional materials and instructional exercises.
• Assists students in a group, or an individual basis, with specific instructional tasks and or specific student goals for the purpose of accommodating their developmentand growth.
• Assists with data collection and assessments for student IEP goals and behavior support services.

• Work Site: Mike Choate Center and District Wide as needed
• Work Schedule: 6 hours/day, 5 days/week, Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
• Benefits: Benefit package includes, Health & Welfare, paid sick leave, vacation, and holidays (currently observing 14 paid holidays a year).
• Requirements for Applying: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade; and either an Associate’s Degree of Arts (AA) or have completed 48 college/university semester units or pass the FUESD proficiency test for this classification; Maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification provided by the district.
• Within the probationary period, paraprofessionals will be expected to participate in District -wide training /supervision and receive a District Certificate of Competence.
• Required Attachments (PDF): Letter of Recommendation - 1 (within the last year and preferably from most recent employer); NCLB Compliance - Proof of degree/transcripts (if applicable); Resume
• Immunizations required: Pertussis, Measles, and Flu Shot (waiver excepted ONLY for Flu)
• Hands On pediatric CPR and first aid certification.
