Job summary

Claremore Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to assist certified staff in classrooms, reinforce reading, language arts and math, and help free teachers for other duties.

You will work with students individually and in small groups, support assessment and record-keeping, supervise during lunch and field trips, and assist with IEP-related activities as needed. Travel between schools may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with one of: Associates Degree, 48 college credits, ParaPro Test, or ability to pass the ParaPro test.
• Experience with special needs students desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer instruction.
• Work with students individually and in small groups.
• Assist in administration and correction of classroom exercises and assessments.
• Prepare and adapt instructional materials for individual needs.
• Maintain and document student learning and performance records.
• Support classroom behavioral management to maintain a safe environment.
• Supervise students in non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, study halls).
• Accompany students on field trips as needed.
• Assist with parent contact to encourage involvement.
• Support students with special needs during all activities and participate in IEP processes when required.
