Job summary

Jenks Public Schools Southeast Elementary is seeking a Paraprofessional to assist the special education program with individual and small-group support. The role requires adhering to schedules, assisting with classroom transitions, and collaborating with related service providers to meet student needs.

The position involves lifting students as needed, supporting safety, and maintaining confidential records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of college or an associate’s degree or NCR certificate (ACT/WorkKeys) or OGET.
• CPR and First Aid training required and kept up to date.
• Meet district physical health and citizenship requirements.
• Board may accept alternative qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing the program to meet student goals with individual attention and enrichment.
• Work under supervision of the special education teacher with students individually or in small groups.
• Assist teacher and support behavior intervention plans when applicable.
• Modify materials and help prepare and maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Adhere to schedule and assist with transitions (lunch, bathroom, specials, nurse).
• Assist in lifting students safely as instructed.
• Assist students with toileting needs as appropriate.
• Collaborate with PT/OT/SLP and vision/orientation specialists to support needs.
• Assist with tasks requested by teacher or principal and maintain student records.
• Complete required state/local LEA training and Universal Precautions/Bloodborne Pathogens yearly.
• Participate in professional development and other required training.
• Demonstrate care and cooperation for students and willingness to learn.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
