Jenks Public Schools Southeast Elementary in Tulsa, Oklahoma, seeks a Paraprofessional to support individualized instruction under the supervision of a special education teacher. The position is nine months, non-exempt, with a $16.21 per hour rate and responsibility for assisting in classroom activities and student care.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, CPR/First Aid training, and knowledge of collaboration with related service providers to support student goals.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Satisfy ACT/WorkKeys requirements or pass the Paraprofessional Assessment Test.
  • CPR and First Aid training must be completed and maintained.
  • Meet district health and citizenship requirements.
  • Board may approve alternatives to the above qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision of the special education teacher, supports individuals or small groups to reinforce learning.
  • Assist the teacher and support behavior intervention plans when applicable.
  • Modify materials and help prepare and maintain the classroom for teaching and learning.
  • Adhere to schedule and assist students with transitions (lunch, bathroom, specials, nurse clinic).
  • Assist in lifting students safely between chair, changing table and toilet as instructed.
  • Assist with toileting needs as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with PT/OT/SLP and vision/orientation specialists to meet students' needs.
  • Maintain student records with confidentiality and progress notes.
  • Complete required state LEA trainings and Universal Precautions training annually.
  • Participate in professional development as required.

Reports to: Principal and Special Education Teacher


Supervises:None


Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. Satisfy Every Student Succeeds Act requirements by :
a. Completed at least 2 years of study (48 hrs.) at an institution of higher ed, or
b. Hold an associate’s degree or higher, or
c. Obtained a National Career Readiness Certificate through successful completion of the

ACT, WorkKeys Assessment, or passed the Paraprofessional Assessment Test - Passing

Score is 455, or
d. Passed the Oklahoma General Education (OGET) Test.
3. Complete and maintain training and skills in Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

and First Aid.

4. Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate

and acceptable.


Position Goal: Assist in the implementation of the program designed to meet the specific goals and objectives for each student, through the provision of individual attention, additional and/or enrichment instruction.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Under the supervision of the special education teacher, works with individuals and/or small

groups of students to reinforce expectations and learning introduced by the teacher.
2. Assists the teacher and supports behavior intervention plans, if applicable.
3. Modifies materials and assist in preparing and maintaining classroom for teaching and learning.
4. Adheres to schedule, assisting students with transitions as appropriate, i.e. lunch, bathroom,

specials and nurse clinic.
5. Assists in lifting students as instructed for safety from chair to and from changing table and/or

toilet.
6. Assists student with toileting needs as appropriate.
7. Collaborates with service providers PT, OT, SLP, vision and/or orientation specialists to assist

with meeting the physical and training needs of students.
8. Assists in tasks or student support requested by teacher or principal.
9. Assists in maintaining student records, i.e., confidentiality, charting progress with academics or

behavior.
10. Complete the Oklahoma Special Education Paraprofessional Training or other State approved

Local Education Agency (LEA) training.
11. Complete training in Universal Precautions/Bloodborne Pathogens Training yearly.
12. Participates in professional development and other training programs, as required.
13. Demonstrates care and concern for students through cooperation and willingness to learn.
14. Performs all other duties as assigned.


Employment Terms: Nine (9) month classified hourly contract
