The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) is seeking a Paraprofessional to assist disabled and handicapped Special Education students. The role involves substantial physical support and instructional assistance, with duties not extending to homes or non-CMSD settings.

You will work under teachers to adapt to students’ individual needs, reinforce learning, and help implement behavior plans. CMSD seeks candidates with the right dedication to students and community, and a valid Ohio

Formación

• High school diploma or GED required; related college education courses preferred.
• As paraprofessional, meet one of the Highly Qualified options (48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours, or Para Pro).
• Possess or be eligible for an Ohio Educational Aide Permit.
• STNA certification preferred.
• Two years of higher education or an Associate degree or higher preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Becomes familiar with District initiatives including The Cleveland Plan and Academic Achievement Plans.
• Adapt to individual social, emotional, and academic needs of students.
• Use preventative, dignified classroom management reflecting structure, equity, and consistency.
• Reinforce instruction as directed by the teacher in various areas.
• Assist the teacher with behavior management programs and record student progress.
• Identify and use appropriate materials for each student.
• Monitor and assist students in self-help activities and record observations as needed.
• Prepare, collect, and adapt instructional materials; manage equipment.
• Maintain materials/equipment; assist with physical interventions when needed.
• Collaborate as a team member and perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
