Job summary

Buckeye Elementary School District is seeking a Paraprofessional A- Self Contained/Side-by-Side to assist special education teachers in providing individualized instruction and IEP implementation. The role includes behavior monitoring, supporting students with diverse needs, and assisting with personal care tasks under supervision.

Responsibilities include classroom setup, inclusion support, supervision in multiple settings, and collaboration with the teaching team.

Qualifications

• AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Experience working with school-aged children (preferred).
• Experience working with children with various learning and physical disabilities (preferred).
• Special training in adaptive equipment (may be required upon hire).
• Ability to speak fluent Spanish (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with instructions, creation of classroom materials and setup.
• Provide services in regular classrooms, ESL, special needs, side-by-side or other special education settings.
• Supervise students in playground, lunchroom, lavatory, bus areas, and during transportation as needed.
• Assist inclusion in regular classroom and support individualized instruction.
• Aid students with personal hygiene needs.
• Assist with reading, writing and math skills.
• Assist occupational and speech therapists as required.
• Prepare instructional materials and visual aids under supervision.
• Maintain teaching materials and organize learning centers.
• Document student progress and modify lessons to meet needs.
• Collaborate with teachers to tailor lessons and activities.
• Conduct safety drills and aid in emergency procedures.
• Participate in Medicaid Reimbursement programs as required.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct.
• May oversee class in teacher’s absence.
