Job summary

Buckeye Elementary School District seeks a Paraprofessional A- Self Contained/Side-by-Side to assist special education teachers, implement IEPs, monitor behavior and help with personal needs. Includes support in various settings and adherence to safety and PBIS guidelines.

Preferred candidates hold a HS diploma, AZ DPS IVP Clearance, and certifications in crisis intervention, CPR and First Aid; Spanish ability is a plus and experience with diverse learners is valued.

Qualifications

• Must obtain and maintain AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Obtain and maintain certification in Nonviolent Physical Crisis Intervention, CPR, and First Aid.
• Experience working with school-aged children preferred.
• Experience working with children with various learning and physical disabilities preferred.
• Special training in adaptive equipment may be required upon hire.
• Ability to speak fluent Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with instructions, creation of classroom materials and classroom set up.
• Provide services in regular classrooms, ESL, special needs, side-by-side or other settings.
• Supervise students in classroom, playground and cafeteria environments.
• Assist and accompany students for inclusion in regular classroom.
• Aids students with personal hygiene and daily living activities.
• Assist in administering District and State tests as needed.
• Assess student needs and modify lessons to provide appropriate help; document progress.
• Collaborate with teachers to ensure lessons are appropriate for students.
