Job summary

Buckeye Elementary School District is seeking a Paraprofessional A- Self Contained/Side-by-Side to support special education students and assist teachers with IEPs, behavior monitoring, and personal care needs in multiple settings.

The role emphasizes creating a supportive learning environment, assisting with reading, writing and math, and collaborating with instructors to tailor lessons to each student’s needs.

Qualifications

• Must have AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• TB Test is required.
• Certification in Nonviolent Physical Crisis Intervention, CPR and First Aid is required.
• Experience with school-aged children is preferred.
• Experience with children with various learning and physical disabilities is preferred.
• Special training in adaptive equipment may be required upon hire.
• Ability to speak fluent Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with instructions and classroom materials.
• Provide services in regular, ESL, or special education settings.
• Supervise in playground, lunchroom, bus areas and transportation as needed.
• Assist and accompany students for inclusion in regular classrooms.
• Aide students with personal hygiene and toileting needs.
• Assist with eating utensils and cafeteria behavior.
• Support occupational and speech therapists as required.
• Maintain a safe learning environment for students.
• Work with students one-on-one or in small groups.
• Monitor student activity and document progress with teacher direction.
• Prepare instructional materials and learning centers daily.
• Assist with reading, writing and math instruction.
• Assist in administering District and State tests as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons to student needs.
• Organize and maintain teaching materials and student work.
• Observe safety procedures and participate in drills and evacuations.
• Report medical and safety concerns to supervisor or health staff.
• Attend trainings to stay current with equipment and district needs.
• Demonstrate professional conduct with students, staff and parents.
• Participate in Medicaid Reimbursement training as required.
