Job summary

Buckeye Elementary School District seeks a Paraprofessional A- Self Contained/Side-by-Side to assist teachers with individualized instruction, implement IEPs, monitor student behavior, and support students with personal needs in self-contained or side-by-side settings.

This 10‑month, non-exempt position requires AZ DPS IVP fingerprint clearance, CPR/First Aid certification, and preference for Spanish-speaking applicants.

Qualifications

• Must obtain and maintain a AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (required).
• Obtain and maintain certification in Nonviolent Physical Crisis Intervention, CPR, and First Aid (required).
• Experience working with school-aged children (preferred).
• Experience working with children with various learning and physical disabilities (preferred).
• Special training in the use of adaptive equipment (may be required upon hire).
• Ability to speak fluent Spanish (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with instructions, creation of classroom materials and classroom setup.
• Paraprofessionals may provide services in regular classrooms, ESL, special needs, side-by-side or other special education settings.
• Supervise in playground, lunchroom, lavatory, bus area and assist in transporting District students as required.
• Assist and accompany student for inclusion in regular classroom.
• Assist students with personal hygiene and toilet training.
• Assist in teaching reading, writing, and math skills and in administering tests.
