Job summary

Orange County Public Schools seeks a paraprofessional to assist students with severe disabilities under the supervision of certified staff. Duties include supporting instruction, behavior management, and daily living activities, with emphasis on safety and individualized education plans.

Must complete ESE training within 45 days of hire and maintain data for IEP progress. The position requires coordination with teachers, aides, and families, and involves meaningful interaction with students

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher required; 60 semester hours acceptable.
• Paraprofessional certification required; highly qualified status preferred.
• Two years of experience with exceptional needs students in education.
• ESE Training to be completed within 45 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructional, behavioral and developmental needs of students with severe disabilities.
• Support teachers with lesson plans, data collection, and progress reports.
• Monitor and document student behaviors; implement positive behavioral supports.
• Provide one-on-one assistance during meals, transitions, and activities.
• Escort students and ensure safety during arrival, meals, and field trips.
• Operate and assist with equipment used by students with special needs.
