Job summary

Orange County Public Schools is seeking a paraprofessional to support teachers and students in an educational setting. Under supervision, you will provide instructional, vocational, and developmental assistance to trainable and educable exceptional students.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living skills, monitoring behavior, helping with lesson plans, maintaining records, and supporting classroom activities to ensure a productive learning environment for students with disabilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; two years experience with school age children preferred.
• ESE Training within 45 days of hire is required for new hires.
• Ability to fulfill dexterity and physical requirements; effective attention to special needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional, vocational and developmental assistance to mentally, physically, emotionally disabled students as prescribed by supervising teacher.
• Assist students with daily living skills including dressing, eating, grooming and hygiene.
• Monitor and chart student behavior, document changes and provide learning support.
• Assist in preparation of lesson plans and learning activities; help develop instructional materials.
• Maintain accurate records of student activities and behavior; may use computer for data entry.
