Job summary

Orange County Public Schools is seeking a paraprofessional to provide instructional, vocational and developmental assistance to students with special needs under direct supervision. The role involves supporting certified teachers and aides, aiding with classroom activities, transfers, and daily living skills to help students participate in lessons and school routines.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of experience with school-age children; ESE training

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Two years minimum experience with school-age children in an educational setting.
Must complete ESE Training within 45 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Provides instructional, vocational and developmental assistance to students with special needs as prescribed by the supervising teacher.
Assists students with transfers, mobility, and daily living skills as appropriate to development.
Monitors, observes and documents student behavior and crises; applies crisis intervention as needed.
Supports teachers in lesson planning and learning activities; helps prepare instructional materials.
Supervises students in various spaces and assists in classrooms to maintain a positive learning environment.
