Job summary

Wayzata Public Schools ISD 284 is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional (SDC) to assist licensed staff with academic adaptations, self-care, and social/behavioral needs for students in special education. Experience with trauma-informed practices and positive behavior supports is highly valued.

The role may involve work in general education, special education, or community settings, with attention to students who present emotional and behavioral challenges. Strong data privacy is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; Highly Qualified Status Required; Preference for 2 year post-secondary training.
• Must be flexible and willing to work in a variety of settings with a variety of students and staff.
• May need to lift, pull and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must be willing to assist in the eating and to toileting needs of students.
• Must maintain data privacy and confidentiality for all students.
• Computer skills preferred.

Position Description: Assist Special Education Licensed Staff with academic adaptations, self-care and social/behavioral needs for students in special education. This support may be provided in thegeneral education classroom, special education classroom or community. Special attention will be given to candidates with experience working with students who present emotional and behavioral challenges. Ideal applicants will have experience with positive behavior support strategies, utilizing trauma-informed practices to reinforce a structured, supportive environment that promotes student growth and well-being.
