Job summary

Wayzata Public Schools ISD 284 is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional (SDC) to assist licensed staff with academic adaptations, self-care and social/behavioral support for students in various settings, including general and special education classrooms or community programs.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma and Highly Qualified Status, with a preference for 2 years of post-secondary training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; Highly Qualified Status Required; Preference for 2 year post-secondary training.
• Ability to lift, pull and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Willing to assist in the eating and toileting needs of students.
• Must maintain data privacy and confidentiality for all students.
• Computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

Position Description

Assist Special Education Licensed Staff with academic adaptations, self-care and social/behavioral needs for students in special education. This support may be provided in the general education classroom, special education classroom or community.

Special attention will be given to candidates with experience working with students who present emotional and behavioral challenges. Ideal applicants will have experience with positive behavior support strategies, utilizing trauma-informed practices to reinforce a structured, supportive environment that promotes student growth and well‑being.

Qualifications
