Job summary

Thief River Falls Public School seeks a part-time Support Staff/Special Education Assistant for Fall 2026. 6-7 hours per day on student days, with duties including supervising and assisting in instructional activities for students with special needs.

Responsibilities include assisting teachers, helping with transportation, participating in activities, and supporting medical management as needed. Building location to be determined; date available Fall 2026.

Qualifications

• Provide educational assistance to students individually and in groups.
• Ability to obtain state requirements for special education paraprofessionals.
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
• Position requires standing and/or walking for most of the work shift and may require lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted and 100 pounds assisted.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of the special education and/or regular education teacher to assist in providing supervision and educational instruction for student(s) with special needs in various programs.
• Assist with transportation needs (arrival/departure) when assigned.
• Participate in a variety of school activities as requested.
• Assist with medical management needs and duties non-academically related when assigned.
• Duties may range from classroom, individual student, and other duties as assigned.
