Qualifications

• Pass Para-Pro examination or have 60 hours of college credit.
• High school diploma.
• Previous experience with children or students with special needs.
• Ability to record and summarize data as directed by the special education teacher.
• Willingness to participate in training programs.
• Understand individual student needs as described in their IEP.
• Ability to lift a student (2-person lift for over 40 pounds).

Responsibilities

• Monitor students during arrival, lunch, and dismissal times.
• Assist in classroom instruction under general and special education teachers.
• Implement Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) as written in the IEP.
• Assist students in following classroom schedules.
• Record and summarize data as directed by the teachers.
• Maintain daily communication with the special education teacher.
• Assist with modifications or accommodations per IEP.
• Provide individualized services to assist inclusionary students.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Follow all paraprofessional employee practices.
