Job summary

Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional - Level III to support students with special needs under the supervision of SPED teachers. The role includes assisting in classrooms and specialized programs, implementing instructional plans, and helping with life skills and behavioral supports.

The position requires working with students who may require toileting, feeding and lifting, and involves data gathering to inform instruction.

Qualifications

• State of Illinois paraprofessional licenses required as listed in Will County.
• 60+ college credits or passing WorkKeys assessment required to obtain licensure/certification.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in supervision, care, and instruction of students with unique or specialized needs in the regular classroom or in a specialized program.
• Assisting in implementing plans, interventions, and strategies for instruction on academic, social/emotional, and life skills.
• Implementing behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
• Gathering data related to student needs and abilities.
• Assisting with students who may require toileting, feeding and lifting.
• Monitoring students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g., rest rooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, parking lots, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
• The Specialized Program Paraprofessional may utilize behavioral approaches such as ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) or CPI (Crisis Prevention) when working with students to ensure students are provided with the support they need to access the least restrictive environment (LRE).
