Job summary

Camas School District is seeking a Paraprofessional Special Education High Needs to provide 1:1 and small group support in self-contained or specialized programs, aiding students' access to regular and special education. Collaboration with teachers and staff is essential to ensure student progress.

The role involves implementing specific procedures, preparing materials, maintaining records, and assisting with IEPs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or higher as required.
• 72 quarter/48 semester credits or AA/AS degree or state paraprofessional exam.
• Experience working with special needs students in educational settings.
• Demonstrated academic proficiency comparable to assigned grade/subject areas.
• Basic knowledge of sign language preferred.
• Basic computer skills including MS Office and database entry.
• Acquire and maintain first aid/CPR certification.
• Acquire and maintain training in the use of physical restraints.

Responsibilities

• Implement specialized or adaptive procedures and curriculum as instructed.
• Prepare and utilize materials for students.
• Implement IEPs as designated.
• Provide for the physical needs of students (e.g., lifting, diapering, etc.).
• Maintain records as instructed.
• Collect and record student data; provide progress reports.
• Support and implement behavioral plans.
• Assist with adaptation of classroom materials.
• Facilitate independent work, social and self-help skills.
• Provide first aid when needed.
• Provide physical restraint as needed.
• Perform other related duties to support student success.
