Job summary

UNION R-XI SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a paraprofessional to assist and support teachers and students. The role requires a valid Missouri paraprofessional certificate or at least 60 college hours and Missouri substitute teaching certification.

A bachelor’s degree with Missouri teaching certification is preferred but not required. Background clearance is mandatory; alternatives may be considered by district leadership.

Qualifications

• Valid Missouri paraprofessional certificate or 60 college hours and Missouri substitute certification.
• Bachelor’s degree and Missouri teaching certification preferred, not required.
• Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications may be accepted by the Board/Superintendent.
• Coaching experience is not required but preferred.

Responsibilities

• Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assists staff in devising strategies to reinforce learning for students.
• Monitors work, corrects papers, and supervises testing and makeup work.
• Performs clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned.
• Maintains confidentiality and promotes safety in the school environment.
• Participates in in‑service training and works as part of a team.
• Adheres to deadlines and requirements from administration and state/federal law.

Education

Missouri paraprofessional certificate

60 college hours

Missouri substitute teaching certificate

Bachelor’s degree and Missouri teaching certification

Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance

Alternatives to qualifications allowed by Board/Superintendent

Coaching experience preferred
