Job summary

Union School District R-11 is seeking a paraprofessional to support teachers and students. The candidate must have a Missouri paraprofessional certificate or 60 college hours, with fingerprint clearance and a substitute certificate as applicable.

The role involves assisting certified staff, supervising students, and performing clerical duties while maintaining confidentiality and safety in the school environment. Coaching experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Valid Missouri paraprofessional certificate and/or a minimum of 60 college credit hours and Missouri substitute teaching certificate required
• Bachelor’s degree and appropriate Missouri teaching certification preferred, not required
• Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and/or Superintendent may find appropriate
• Coaching experience not required, but preferred

Responsibilities

• Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff.
• Assists the certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
• Monitors work, corrects papers, and supervises curriculum-based testing and makeup work as assigned by the certified staff.
• Performs clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned by the certified staff.
• Alerts the certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student.
• Performs assigned supervision of students during lunch periods, play periods, and on field trips.
• Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in school environment and community.
• Participates in in-service training programs as approved.
• Maintains safe working environment and encourages colleagues to be safety minded in the performance of all school-related duties.
• Performs other such duties / assignments as directed by the certified staff.
• Effectively collects and maintains evidence of yearly professional development hours.
• Works well as a team member to serve all constituencies.
• Adheres to and follows all deadlines and requirements as presented by administration / state / federal law.
• Attends all meetings as requested by building and district administration.
• Maintains strict confidentiality as required by law.
• Commits to lifelong learning and growth.
• Performs any and all other related duties as assigned building and district administration.

Education

Missouri paraprofessional certificate

60 college credit hours

Missouri substitute teaching certificate

Bachelor’s degree (preferred, not required)
