Job summary

The Union School District R-11 is seeking a Paraprofessional to assist and support teachers and students in a 177-day calendar environment. The role requires a valid Missouri paraprofessional certificate or 60 college credit hours and a Missouri substitute teaching certificate, with a bachelor’s degree and Missouri teaching certification preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Valid Missouri paraprofessional certificate and/or 60 college credit hours and Missouri substitute teaching certificate.
• Bachelor’s degree and appropriate Missouri teaching certification preferred, not required.
• Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and/or Superintendent may find appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff.
• Assists the certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on the needs and abilities of students.
• Monitors work, corrects papers, and supervises curriculum-based testing and makeup work as assigned by the certified staff.
• Performs clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned by the certified staff.
• Alerts the certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student.
• Performs assigned supervision of students during lunch periods, play periods, and on field trips.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information and adheres to safety and district policies.
• Participates in in-service training programs as approved.
