Job summary

Buena Vista City Public Schools seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to work under supervision to support students with disabilities in an inclusive setting. You will assist certified teachers, reinforce IEP goals, and help students develop independence and daily living skills.

The role involves supervising students, organizing instructional materials, and communicating with teachers and parents while maintaining confidentiality and a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree or 60 college credits preferred (or ability to meet paraprofessional state requirements).
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to students individually and in small groups under supervision.
• Assist in implementing IEPs and behavior intervention plans.
• Reinforce material through repetition and guided practice.
• Support development of self-care and daily living skills.
• Monitor and document student progress as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with classroom preparation and organization of materials.
• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and field trips.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records as required.
