Job summary

Somerset Berkley and Somerset Public Schools North Elementary School in Somerset, MA, is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for a substantially separate classroom serving students with developmental disabilities. Salary ranges from $18.57 to $24.94 per hour, with citizenship/residency or work visa required. Immediate starting date and annual work-year determined by the district.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework (48 credits) or AS Degree required.
• Ability to work effectively with students with special needs.
• Good communications and interpersonal skills.
• Preference for training in crisis intervention/restraint and related topics.

Responsibilities

• Works with elementary students with developmental disabilities in instructional and non-instructional settings.
• Reinforce learning of materials or skills introduced by the classroom teacher.
• Reinforce social/emotional strategies introduced by the teacher and other specialists.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical behavior regarding student information.
• Perform related duties as directed by the building principal.
