Job summary

School District 27J in Brighton, Colorado, seeks a paraeducator to provide direct academic and behavioral support for students with severe disabilities in both special education and general education settings.

The position is 8.5 hours per day, Tue–Fri, nine months per year (paid over 12 months) and starts at $21.66 per hour, with benefits eligibility. Responsibilities include data collection, IEP-based instruction, and collaboration with teachers and specialists.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as Behavior Intervention Plans, IEPs, and staff handbooks.
• Ability to collect data, write routine reports and simple correspondences.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic math, including algebra and geometry.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or obtainable within 2 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and academic/support for students in special education and general education settings.
• Modify materials and classroom environments under supervision.
• Identify and support peer relationships and natural supports.
• Follow behavior intervention plans and CPI as required to ensure safety.
• Maintain forms and records and communicate progress with teachers and therapists.
• Attend trainings and student staffings as required.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and teachers to implement routines.
