Job summary

South Bend Community School Corp Lincoln Elementary School in South Bend, Indiana seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to support SPED students under the direction of teachers and the district support team. This role involves implementing IEPs, monitoring during arrival and activities, and assisting with instruction and data collection.

Starting pay is $20.00 per hour. Candidates should have a high school diploma or Para-Pro credentials, and be willing to participate in ongoing training

Qualifications

• Pass Para-Pro examination or have 60 hours of college credit.
• High school diploma.
• Previous experience with children or students with special needs.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with others and understand individual students' needs.
• Ability to lift student if necessary (over 40 pounds requires 2-person lift).
• Willingness to participate in pre and ongoing training programs.
• Understand IEP requirements and behavior plans.

Responsibilities

• Monitor students during arrival, lunch, recess and dismissal times.
• Assist in classroom instruction under teacher direction.
• Implement Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) as written in the IEP.
• Assist students with following classroom schedule and IEP goals.
• Record and summarize data as directed by the special education teacher.
• Maintain daily communication with the special education teacher.
• Assist with modification/accommodation of classroom work per IEP.
• Provide individualized services to support inclusionary services.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Follow all employee practices listed in paraprofessional agreements.
• Assist with toileting and/or diapering as needed, and with feeding as needed.
