Job summary

New Braunfels ISD is seeking a Full-Time Instructional Aide/Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities across classroom and non-classroom settings.

Responsibilities include preparing materials, assisting with IEP implementation, managing behavior, and providing transportation and care support as needed. Minimum education includes HS diploma and SBEC-certified credentials; prior experience with children is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Educational Aide Certificate issued by SBEC required.
• Paraprofessional Assessment Certificate, AA, or two years (48 semester hours) of college required.
• Two years of experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Help meet the individual needs of students, including transfers to wheelchairs and positioning.
• Assist with personal care including bathroom needs and feeding.
• Help manage the behavior of assigned students and intervene in crises as needed.
• Work with students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises.
• Assist assigned students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duties.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of assigned students.
• Maintain data records on learning and behavior.
• Keep Medicaid logs monthly for eligible students.
