Job summary

Richmond County School System in Georgia is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support instructional activities under the supervision of the school principal. This role requires an associate degree or higher, or equivalent, and GA paraprofessional credentials with a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities include assisting in reading, writing, and mathematics instruction, supervising students, attending staff meetings, and contributing to school improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher required with GPA 2.5+ or C average.
• 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours with GPA 2.5+.
• High school diploma with passing GACE Paraprofessional or PRAXIS prior to 3/1/2007.
• Must maintain Georgia certificate and possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in instructional activities and classroom program.
• Attend all school staff meetings and participate in PD.
• Cooperate with teachers, admins, and stakeholders.
• Supervise students and support social, emotional, and academic development.
• Serve as information source for substitutes to maintain program continuity.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct; communicate properly.
• Reinforce learning with individuals or small groups as directed.
• Utilize skills within the total school program; perform tasks as assigned.
• Operate classroom equipment and support technology used for instruction.
• Participate in school improvement through committees.
