Job summary

Wawasee Community School Corporation is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional- Applied Skills to support the teacher in meeting student goals. This classified position involves working with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning and implement IEP and behavior plans under supervision.

Responsibilities include assisting with diagnostic tests, supervising activities, and helping with materials, health, and self-care needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to plan and organize.
• Strong human relations skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
• Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.
• Board may approve alternatives.

Responsibilities

• Implement IEP and Behavior Plan under teacher supervision.
• Assist with diagnostic tests when needed.
• Monitor and assist with students' behavioral needs.
• Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce material.
• Assist in devising strategies for reinforcing material based on student needs.
• Guide independent study, enrichment, and remedial work.
• Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing.
• Assist with group activities and substitute teacher support.
• Assist with copying and laminating student materials.
• Supervise recess or lunch duties.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Assist with health and self-care needs as required.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in staff development.
