Job summary

Sylvania in Minnesota is seeking a dedicated Paraeducator for Special Education to support students with disabilities in mainstream, resource or center-based settings. You will assist with instruction, behavior management and daily living skills under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma, a Personal Care Assistant certification within 30 days, college credits or an approved para-educator exam. Start date is 8/31/26; benefits apply for positions of 6+ hours daily.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Personal Care Assistant certification required within 30 days of start.
• 60 credits/associate degree or ParaEducator/ParaPro exam.
• Good communication, interpersonal and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work with technology and computers.
• Ability to supervise students.
• Ability to take direction and maintain regular attendance.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
• Physically able to perform classroom responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center-based settings.
• Managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom).
• Monitoring and recording student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.).
• Managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.).
