Job summary

The Ridge School of Montgomery County, operated by Adventist HealthCare, seeks a dedicated Paraeducator to support a student with emotional and learning needs in grades 6–12. This full-time, on-site role runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Under supervision of the classroom teacher, you will provide individualized instruction, support class activities and therapy sessions, and help implement IEP goals with the therapeutic team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in education, psychology or related discipline preferred.
• Minimum of one year work experience with special needs students.
• Familiarity with student/adolescent development.
• Active BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of the classroom teacher, provide individual instruction to the assigned student with the goal of increasing the student’s overall school performance
• Provide support to assigned student during class activities
• Support assigned student in therapy sessions
• Facilitate student progress toward academic and social-emotional goals
• Observe and record data on the student’s behavior in collaboration with the therapeutic team
• Implement accommodations and supports established by the student’s IEP
• Implement therapeutic measures as directed by IEP goals
• Participate in the school's interdisciplinary team meetings, workshops, and other selected school staff meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher when the designated student is absent
