Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• First aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain promptly.
• Para educators shall be highly qualified upon hire into a continuing position as defined by state law.
• Two years of college credits (72 quarter or 48 semester) or associates degree; or relevant assessments/apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in meeting instructional, behavioural, and social-emotional needs of students with disabilities.
• Provide instructional support in small or large groups to reinforce learning objectives.
• Assist teachers with observing, recording data, charting behavior, and classroom preparation.
• Follow plans and procedures as directed by administrators or certificated staff.
• Maintain safety, behavior, decorum, and order in school areas.
• Collaborate with Special Education teachers and other para educators.
• Prepare materials designated in lesson plans.
• Learn and apply approaches for working with students in instructional settings.
