Job summary

Davenport Community Schools is seeking a dedicated para educator to support students with disabilities in both special and general education settings.

You will work under the supervision of the special education teacher to provide academic assistance, behavior interventions, and daily living skills guidance. This role requires flexibility, collaboration with staff, and a commitment to student safety and well being.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to attend evenings trainings or meetings during the school year or summer.
• Must be willing to accept feedback from specialists and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Must follow directives of classroom teacher, building and district administration.
• Must be able to work with students with autism and other disabilities.
• Ability to analyze situations and respond appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Provide services for special education students in special or general education settings.
• Assist with academic support, behavior interventions, and social/daily living skills.
• Attend field trips as necessary.
• Supervise students in classroom, lunch, hallways, and on site work locations.
• Assist students with changing clothes and hygiene needs.
• Accompany students to and from the bus and assist in transportation.
