Job summary

Mt. Spokane High School is seeking a ParaEducator for the Developmental Learning Center (DLC). This role supports teachers in meeting instructional and behavioral needs of students with disabilities and works in both small and large groups.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus First aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain. It involves collaboration, data collection, and following IEP-related plans, with a schedule of 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Para educators shall be required to be highly qualified upon hire into a continuing position as defined by state law.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• First aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain promptly.
• Completed 2 years of college credits or higher at the 100 level or higher; OR associates degree; OR completed qualifying assessment.
• Have completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council.

Responsibilities

• Supports teachers in meeting the instructional, educational, behavioral, and social emotional needs of students with disabilities.
• Provide instructional support in small or large groups to reinforce learning objectives.
• Assist teachers with observing, recording data, charting behavior, and classroom preparation.
• Follow and implement plans, procedures, strategies, or tasks as directed by an administrator or certificated staff.
• Maintain safety, decorum, and order in various school areas.
