Job summary

Spotsylvania County Public Schools seeks a paraeducator to provide instructional support in self-contained classrooms for students with special needs. You will assist teachers with daily tasks, manage materials, and help with assessments while supporting students’ social skill development and behavior in a respectful, structured environment.

The role emphasizes collaboration, adherence to procedures, and responsibilities that include non-instructional duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associates Degree preferred.
• Two years working with children in a instructional/educational setting preferred.
• MANDT training required annually or as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with organization and completion of daily work.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing environment and support social skills and personal care.
• Monitor and redirect student behavior in small groups.
• Organize instructional materials and files.
• Assist with preparing for assessments as needed.
• Support two-way communication using sign language or transliteration.
• Perform non-instructional duties including cafeteria, bus, hall, and office duties.
