Job summary

Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking paraeducators to provide instructional support in self-contained classrooms for students with special needs, including Autism and Developmental Delays. The role emphasizes student focus, safety, and collaboration with teachers.

The position is hourly, part-time, and evaluated annually. Preferred candidates have an Associates Degree and at least two years of relevant experience, with training in MANDT being a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Associates Degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years working with children in instructional/educational setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with organization and completion of daily work assignments.
• Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and healthy classroom atmosphere.
• Follow procedures for monitoring and redirecting student behavior in small groups.
• Organize and maintain instructional materials and cumulative files.
• Assist with preparing for assessments as needed.
• Use sign language or transliteration to support two-way communication between teacher and student.
• Perform non-instructional duties such as cafeteria, bus, hall, and office duties.
