Job summary

Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking a High School Special Education (Behavior Support) Paraeducator at Courtland High School in Virginia to support teachers and students in self-contained programs.

This 10‑month contract position offers 7.5 hours per day, competitive benefits, and opportunities for credits toward advanced degrees. Immediate start; requires diploma or GED and preferred associate degree or two years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Associates degree preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience with children in an instructional or educational setting.
• MANDT training preferred for emotional disabilities staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with organization and daily work tasks.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing environment and support social skills and personal hygiene.
• Monitor and redirect student behavior in small groups.
• Organize instructional materials and cumulative files.
• Assist with assessments as needed.
• Use sign language or transliteration to aid communication.
• Perform non-instructional duties (cafeteria, bus, hall, office).
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
