Job summary

Cherry Creek Careers is seeking a Severe Needs Para Educator to support students with severe special education needs under licensed staff. The role includes curriculum adaptation, progress tracking, and providing technical physical care in a safe environment.

Remote learning support and DHH/Homebound considerations may apply. Responsibilities emphasize assisting with IEP plans, collaborating with educators, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
• High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma required.
• No professional work experience required.
• Mandatory Crisis Prevention Intervention training provided by the District.
• Medication administration training provided by the District as needed.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and office equipment.
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups with students.
• Ability to modify curriculum and implement behavior modification techniques.
• Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with classroom activities and adapt curriculum to individual needs.
• Maintain records of student progress and behavior with licensed staff.
• Assist with materials, tests, attendance, and documentation as needed.
• Support with other classroom events (fire drills, etc.).
• Monitor behavior and assist in de-escalation for student safety.
• Assist in online/remote learning settings with technology and coursework.
