Job summary

North Thurston Public Schools’ Evergreen Forest Elementary in Olympia, Washington seeks a Paraeducator – Resource for the 2026-27 school year under an emergency 3-day assignment. The role provides instructional and support duties to students with special needs, working under the supervision of certified staff.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and may be required to complete ParaPro testing or college credits; position includes 3.25 hours/day, 189 days/year, with SEBB benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree or 72 quarter credits of college courses numbered 100 or above OR the ETS Para Pro test.
• May be required to be certified or to become certified in first aid, CPR, and/or operation of defibrillators.
• Successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities or demonstrated commitment to engaging diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers in assessment, curriculum implementation, student interactions, and enforcing safe behaviors.
• Teach independent living skills and support classroom routines to keep students on task.
• Provide instructional support and tutoring in large groups, small groups, and one-on-one settings.
