Job summary

Durango School District 9-R is seeking a Special Education Instructional Paraeducator at Needham Elementary School. The role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with benefits.

The position begins as soon as possible and includes a $1800 one-time bonus for staff newly hired to the district (pro-rated for late start). The paraeducator will provide instructional support under licensed staff, help implement IEPs, and work to support students in least restrictive environments.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent or 2 years of college/48 semester hours or pass paraprofessional test prior to hire.
• CPR and First Aid training preferred at hire; CPI training required within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Support instructional programs and assist in meeting IEP goals under licensed staff.
• Supervise students in classroom and other settings including lunchroom, playground, and field trips.
• Enforce district behavioral policies and assist in meeting behavioral goals; provide crisis intervention if needed.
• Assist students with daily routines, mobility, and personal care as directed by IEP.
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to support learning and communicate with families.
